The Blackmagic Design UltraStudio 4K Extreme 3 is a high-performance video capture and playback solution, building on the capabilities of its predecessor, the UltraStudio 4K Extreme. With the addition of a Thunderbolt 3 interface, it delivers impressive 40 Gbps transfer speeds, making it ideal for 4K ingest in demanding RGB or stereoscopic formats, as commonly used in high-end feature films.
This powerful device is equipped to handle uncompressed 4K HDR workflows, boasting advanced connections such as 12G-SDI, HDMI 2.0, and PCIe, alongside analog options. Its 12G-SDI multi-rate connections ensure compatibility with existing equipment, while supporting both Ultra HD and 4K at 60 frames per second, over a single BNC cable. Furthermore, it offers real-time H.265 encoding for efficient Ultra HD distribution.

Designed with versatility in mind, the UltraStudio 4K Extreme 3 fits seamlessly into a variety of professional workflows, including non-linear editing, VFX, live streaming, color grading, and audio post-production. Its robust 2 RU rackmountable design features a front-panel LCD screen for local monitoring and intuitive controls, with all primary connectivity located on the back panel.
In addition to its hardware capabilities, the UltraStudio 4K Extreme 3 comes with two SD cards preloaded with essential Blackmagic applications, such as Media Express, Disk Speed Test, and DaVinci Resolve, ensuring seamless integration into both Mac and Windows environments. Whether for live production, on-set acquisition, or post-production work, the UltraStudio 4K Extreme 3 offers the advanced tools and performance required for today’s professional 4K workflows.
